What to gather before our first call

You don’t need a perfect folder. Start with what’s in your phone and your mailbox.

People often wait to call until they have “everything.” You don’t need everything. A few things make a first call more useful, and you can start tonight.

Start with these

  • Photos of the vehicles, the road and your injuries
  • The other driver’s name, insurer and policy number, if you have them
  • The police report number
  • Every bill, receipt and letter you receive
  • The names of your doctors and the date of each visit

Keep a short daily note

A few lines a day are enough: where it hurts, what you couldn’t do, and any work you missed. Months later, those notes are more reliable than memory.

What to hold off on

  • Posting about the crash on social media
  • Signing anything from an insurer that you haven’t read
  • Skipping appointments because a bill worries you

If you can’t find any of this, call anyway. We can request most records ourselves.
